The Netra Ritual

A private ritual of quiet attention, from Lakshmi.

Netra belongs to every nature. Whatever your dosha, the skin around your eyes is up to five times thinner than the skin on the rest of your face: the first to carry the day, and the first to let it go. This page follows that day in three parts. Nothing to rush toward, nothing to fix.

The Film

A few minutes on Netra: what the eye contour asks for, and how the three work together.

The Netra film: the three Netra products on warm stone at the shoreline.
The Netra Hamsa: an open hand in coral, yellow and red ornament with a single eye at its centre.

The Emblem

On the Netra packaging you will find the Hamsa: an open hand with a single eye at its centre. The hand is a sign of protection, and what it protects sits in the middle of it, looking back at you. Rest your own eyes on it before you begin. This part of your face has been working since the moment you woke.

Morning

Warm a little Plumping Eye Balm on your ring finger, the weakest finger you have, and press it along the bone beneath the brow and under the eye in slow taps, from the inner corner outward. Never drag. Argan, shea butter and hyaluronic acid hydrate; amla, ginkgo biloba and damask rose help visibly soften the look of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. An anti-pollution complex helps defend the area through the rest of the day.

Ten Minutes

When the day has been long, the Eye Mask Gel Lift is a pause rather than a step. Ten minutes, sitting still, with a glass of water beside you. Hyaluronic acid, damask rose, niacinamide and peptides leave the eye contour looking plumper, smoother and less tired. Use it on the evening before a morning that matters.

Night

Midnight Butter is the richest of the three, made to work while you sleep. Avocado, apricot and jojoba nourish the area; chamomile, calendula and althea calm the look of redness and puffiness. Apply it last, after everything else, and let it stay. By morning the eye contour looks smoother, softer and rested.

Sound

Three guided meditations for the eyes, made to sit at three points in one day. The first two are breaks, and they hand you back to the day with a count. The third fades into sleep and will not wake you, so it belongs at the end of a day rather than the middle of one. All three use nothing but your own hands, and none of them ask you to picture anything.

Headphones if you have them. Do not listen while driving, or while doing anything else that needs your attention. The night track ends in sleep and will not wake you, so take contact lenses out before you start it.

Your ritual ends the way it began: unhurried.
